Cookies
Last updated 6 October 2026
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. PeachCut uses as few as possible. Without your consent the landing page sets only the cookie that remembers your cookie choice, and inside the app we also set the cookies needed to keep you logged in and your forms safe. Analytics cookies are set if, and only if, you agree to them.
Cookies that are always on
These are strictly necessary for the service you asked for, so the law does not require consent for them. They are first-party, cannot be read by JavaScript and are never used for tracking.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
session | Keeps you logged in. Holds only a signed random identifier. | 30 days, or until you log out |
pc_csrf | Protects the sign-up, login and password forms from being submitted by another site. | 6 hours |
cc_consent | Remembers your answer to the cookie banner, so we don't ask on every page. Also kept in your browser's local storage. | 12 months |
Analytics cookies, only with your consent
On your first visit a banner asks whether we may use analytics: Google Analytics, which counts visits to the website and where they come from, and Microsoft Clarity, which records clicks and scrolling on the website and in the app. Accept and Reject are one click each, look the same, and PeachCut works the same either way. Closing the banner counts as Reject. If you accept, these cookies are set:
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
_clck | Microsoft Clarity | Recognises the same browser across visits | 1 year |
_clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Joins page views into one recording | 1 day |
_ga | Google Analytics | Tells unique visitors apart with a random identifier | 2 years |
_ga_QD0QS7J184 | Google Analytics | Keeps the state of a visit | 2 years |
CLID, MUID, SM, ANONCHK, MR | Microsoft (clarity.ms, c.bing.com) | Identify the browser to Microsoft's analytics service | Session to 1 year |
Marketing cookies, only with your consent
A separate "Marketing" switch in the banner covers Google Ads. If you turn it on, Google can show PeachCut ads to people who visited this site and tell us whether an ad led to a sign-up. It is off unless you turn it on, and it is not needed for anything on the site.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
_gcl_au | Google Ads | Measures whether an ad led to a sign-up | 90 days |
IDE, test_cookie | Google (doubleclick.net) | Show PeachCut ads to people who visited the site | 13 months |
You can change your answer at any time: , or use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, the page reloads, Google Analytics and Clarity stop and their cookies on peachcut.com are deleted; you can also delete cookies in your browser settings. Your choice is asked again after 12 months or when this policy changes. More in Microsoft's Clarity cookie list and Google's Analytics cookie usage. Google Analytics runs without advertising features and Google signals, and does not store your IP address.
Things stored in your browser that are not cookies
A few preferences are kept in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and we cannot read them:
pc-theme: light or dark mode on the landing page;pc_feedback_draft: an unsent feedback message, so you don't lose it;- editor suggestions for a game you are correcting.
Third-party content
Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and open-source code libraries from cdnjs, jsDelivr and unpkg. These services set no cookies through PeachCut, but like any web server they see your IP address when your browser fetches the file.
